Prints - Technical Information
About the Prints
These are ‘ Limited Edition ’ Archival Fine Art Prints of original artwork created and printed to museum standards . Typically the print runs are clearly marked as tradition dictates in the bottom left hand corner , the ‘ title ’ in the centre and my signature and date in the bottom right hand corner .
I tend to date my Prints by the month and/or year of their individual creation. Unlike old lithographic print runs Archival Inkjet Prints are each created individually on superior modern Archival stocks , and so , although it is traditional to only mark the year of the original artwork , I feel strongly that it is disingenuous to ‘ back date ’ prints in this way . . . given that a full print run could span years if not decades .
As my Archival Prints are all made individually dating them truthfully in this way offers them a much clearer chronology and a creation specific date which I just feel makes each individual print more honest and unique . Specific date details of the Original Artworks are always included in full on the Certificates of Authenticity provided with every Print .
I provide a signed ' Certificate of Authenticity ' with all my Prints which offer full details relating to the print including the date , media and dimensions of the original artwork as well as that particular individual Prints specifics . I have often admired other artists work in various places and been frustrated being unable to decipher the signature or ascertain ANY details about the piece and so unable to research them. A simple note declaring the Artist , Title , Date and any other details seems such a simple thing but would be absolute ‘ treasure ’ to me in these instances ! The certificates are then placed in specialist PEL Archival Protective Sleeves ready to be securely fixed to the reverse of the final frame ensuring that they remain WITH the Print for the future .
